Q: Who is Eepybird?
A: Fritz Grobe and Stephen Voltz, the two men of Eepybird, really put the Mentos Geyser on the map with their original video, known as Experiment #137, which is a quirky homage to the “Bellagio Fountain” in Las Vegas. About 6 months after that, they did a second video, Experiment #214, which was very different: in that video, they pulled one string and set off a domino effect of geysers. You can view the videos on www.mentos.com.
Q: Why did you choose Cincinnati and Fountain Square as the location for this event?
A: Perfetti Van Melle, the maker of Mentos, has their US headquarters in Erlanger, Kentucky. So it only seemed right to have the event in the Greater Cincinnati area. We chose Fountain Square because it is centrally located, has the right amount of space and layout for an event of this size and scope; and we thought since we are trying to set the world record for Most Mentos and Soda Fountains, there would be no more appropriate backdrop than the Tyler Davidson Fountain on Fountain Square.
